David Cox / Monticello Estate
David Cox's Monticello Estate in the Granite Belt provides Food Connect with pears, apples and apple juice. In particular we love David's pink lady apples, which are incredibly floral and sweet. This is partly due to David's dry irrigation methods - gradually training the trees to live with no irrigation means lower yields, but more intense flavours and less nutrient leaching. David also grows pears and wine grapes for wine under his Monticello label. They grow some unusual varieties including the Red Sensation pears which can be used like vegetables in a roast, eaten as is or simply admired for its beauty!
