We have been subscribers since 2006 when our first born was a wee toddler.  I have seen FC evolve and grow significantly in that time.  I became a City Cousin a few years ago when the previous CC at Ashgrove needed a break after the birth of their 3rd child.  When we first attended an information session all those years ago, we were impressed by the philosophies that Robert Pekin was presenting.  I spent 10 years of my childhood in the Lockyer Valley so I was also familiar with the lives of farming families and how hard these people worked to survive.  In the current environment, there are so many reasons to support our local producers and not be apathetic and head to the nearest supermarket when the quality is never matched.
Our family consists of James, myself, Niko and Indigo (both boys).  The children have rarely been ill and we always contribute this to the fresh produce they have eaten during their childhood.  They are able to identify a vast range of fruits and vegetables through their FC eating experiences which is brilliant.
Many years ago, we had no carrots left so I purchased some at the local supermarket.  Niko (probably aged 3 – 4) took a bite out of one and promptly opened his mouth and removed the contents into the bin. He exclaimed, "That's not a carrot!"  I think that sums up WHY we are FOOD CONNECTORS in simplistic terms.
